Gaston To’olo, DMD, MS
Dr. Gaston To’olo opened the doors of Katahdin Pediatric Dentistry in May of 2012. He chose Bangor because he believed there was need in the area for dental care geared specifically towards children.
Born in Cameroon, a country located in West Africa, Dr. To’olo graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2006 as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.). After practicing one year in the Yukon-Kuskokwim River Delta area of rural western Alaska, he returned to school in 2007 and completed a two year residency program to receive a Masters of Science (M.S.) in Pediatric Dentistry in 2009.
Since settling in Maine with his wife and two children in 2009, Dr. To’olo began his work ensuring the oral health of patients in a public health clinic before opening his own office, Katahdin Pediatric Dentistry, located at 24 Penn Plaza in Bangor, Maine.

Dr. To’olo enjoys sharing the knowledge that he has worked so hard to gain. While a Pediatric Dental Resident at the University of Kentucky, he served as Pediatric Dentistry Clinical Instructor. In this position, he provided guidance in diagnosis, management, and treatment of children to3rd and 4th year student dentists at the College of Dentistry. While working in Alaska, Dr. To’olo also held a position as External Faculty Clinical Assistant Professor for extern students coming from Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health through A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. More recently, Dr. To’olo was a guest lecturer for the Family Medicine Residency Program at Eastern Maine Medical Center in 2010. Through Lutheran Medical Center Dental Residency Program, he attended as teaching faculty for General Residents (2009) and Pediatric Dental Residents (starting July 2010) until July 2013 at their facility in Bangor through Penobscot Community Health Clinic.

Member of the Community
Dr. To’olo is known for being gentle and funny. Even during his studies, he has always found ways to give back to the communities in which he lived. In Kentucky, not only did he participate in Saturday Morning Clinics providing free dental work to underprivileged children, he also coached volleyballl for a local middle school and high school. He participates in health fairs that offer free screenings and other opportunities that further education around good oral hygiene.
Dr. To’olo can speak several languages: beyond English and French, this list includes Ngoumba, Fehfeh, Bulu, Ewondo, Pidgin and Mabea. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing volleyball, soccer and basketball, hiking around the state and watching his children do gymnastics and play soccer.
